Ping – Free Online Tool

Our free online Ping tool tests whether a website, domain or IP address is reachable and measures how fast it responds. It is a simple first step for checking if a site is down for everyone or just for you.

What is Ping?

Ping is a basic network test that sends small packets to a host and waits for a reply. The time it takes for the reply to come back is called latency and is measured in milliseconds (ms).

A successful ping means the server is online and reachable over the network; high latency or lost packets point to network congestion, routing problems or an overloaded server.

How to use the Ping

  1. Enter a domain name or IP address.
  2. Choose the port or method if options are available.
  3. Click submit to start the test.
  4. Read the response time and status to see whether the host is up and how quickly it responds.

Key features

  • Tests domains and IP addresses
  • Shows response time in milliseconds
  • Runs from our server, so you can compare against your own connection
  • No downloads or command line needed

Common use cases

  • Checking if a website is down for everyone
  • Measuring server response time after changing hosts
  • Troubleshooting slow connections
  • Verifying a newly configured server is reachable

Frequently asked questions

What is a good ping time?

Under 100 ms is generally good for websites. Lower is better, and results depend on the distance between our server and the target.

Why does a server not respond to ping?

Some servers and firewalls block ping requests for security. A failed ping does not always mean the website itself is down.

Is ping the same as page speed?

No. Ping measures network latency only. Page speed also depends on server processing, file sizes and how the page is built.
