RIPEMD-160 Hash Generator – Create RIPEMD-160 Hashes Online

Our free RIPEMD-160 Generator converts any text into its RIPEMD-160 hash instantly. Type or paste your text and get a 160-bit hash shown as 40 hexadecimal characters — ideal for checksums, data verification and development work. No installation or sign-up is needed.

What is RIPEMD-160?

RIPEMD-160 is a cryptographic hash function: it takes input of any length and produces a fixed-length 160-bit output, written as 40 hexadecimal characters. The same input always gives the same hash, but changing even a single character produces a completely different result.

RIPEMD-160 is the best-known RIPEMD variant. Bitcoin combines SHA-256 and RIPEMD-160 to create shorter wallet addresses.

RIPEMD-160 has no practical known attacks, but its 160-bit length makes SHA-256 the preferred choice for new work.

How to use the RIPEMD-160 Generator

  1. Type or paste your text into the input box.
  2. Click the generate button to calculate the RIPEMD-160 hash.
  3. Copy the result with one click.
  4. Compare it with another hash to confirm the data has not changed.

Key features

  • Instant RIPEMD-160 hashing of any text
  • Standard 40-character hexadecimal output
  • One-click copy of the result
  • Free with no limits for normal use

Common use cases

  • Verifying file or message integrity with checksums
  • Generating unique keys and identifiers in software
  • Testing and debugging applications that use RIPEMD-160
  • Working with legacy systems that still rely on RIPEMD-160
  • Learning how hash functions behave for study or teaching

Frequently asked questions

Can a RIPEMD-160 hash be decrypted?

No. Hashing is one-way; there is no key to reverse it. Weak or common inputs can sometimes be guessed with lookup tables, which is why passwords need salting and slow algorithms.

Is RIPEMD-160 safe for storing passwords?

No fast hash, including RIPEMD-160, should be used alone for passwords. Use our Bcrypt Generator or another slow, salted algorithm instead.

Why is my RIPEMD-160 hash different from another tool?

Hidden spaces, line breaks or a different character encoding change the input and therefore the hash. Make sure the text is exactly the same.
